LOYD PARKER - I started playing guitar and piano when I was 8 or 9.  Started writing songs at about the same time. I played in a number of bands all through high school and college. I came to know Jesus Christ in college after losing my girlfriend to hepatitis that she had gotten from me.  (Seeing death as the result of sin is life changing when revealed by the Holy Spirit.)  The change in me started when a friend was quoting from Matthew 13 about the sower sowing seeds in the ground.  He was not trying to change me or win me to Christ.  He was just curious.  As we drove down the street toward my sister Pam’s house both of my ears began to  ”tingle”.  I can’t think of another word to describe it.  I was hearing Jesus speak directly to me from the Bible. ( For a 7 year athiest college student this was some trip.) I started reading the Bible every night but nothing made sense. I looked for someone to explain it to me. I was well versed in other religions,Bindu to Ojah etc., but this Spiritual reality was something new.  Finally a broken man named Kyle read me a verse in John 1:12 – “But as many as received him (Jesus), to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”- We were sitting on a little concrete bridge overlooking a tiny stream that ran near my college apartment. I simply asked Jesus into my heart, not knowing what I was doing or what was about to happen. I wasn’t being compelled to join a certain church group, I was just coming to Jesus Christ for forgiveness. Now I know that I was entering a relationship with the one who had created me and loved me enough to give his life.  From that moment to this day my life has changed. I have a wife, Kathy, and children that I love deeply.  But nothing like the love that I have for Jesus. He has been and always will be my “first love”.  He makes every other love work and grow. If you don’t believe me,  ask him.
